In June 2024, Willie experienced a minor health setback, which led to a few canceled performances during the Outlaw Music Festival.
His team announced that he was following doctors’ orders to rest for a few days and made a quick recovery.
By July 4, 2024, he was back on stage, performing at his annual Fourth of July Picnic in Camden, New Jersey, to a standing ovation.

“I’m 91 plus, so, you know, I’m not worried about it. I don’t feel bad. I don’t hurt anywhere. I don’t have any reason to worry about dying.”
He attributes his longevity to simply taking good care of himself and staying active.
